If it's working the sound will only last a couple of seconds until the fuel pressure builds up and the relay cuts it off. Got home that night and it was pouring rain so I left it sit out in trailer overnight.It sounds like you still might not be getting enough power to start the machine. If you have a charger, hook it up to the battery and turn it on and try to start it again. If it starts, you still have a weak battery. Cranks but no start. Ranger had been occasionally running a little ruff over the past month. Seemed to be running on one cylinder for a bit after start, but after running a few minutes would run ok. Line up the cam gear with the xrank pin pointing toward the top of the cylinder. Then pull rhe 14 mm bolt on the top of the stator housing. You should see a timing mark on the stator.
