Novice Member. Oct 30, 2021. #1. I have recently bought a Sony STR-DH790 receiver. I have a few issues hope someone can help. Sometimes when playing a dvd the back speakers don't seem to work at all. I have the 5.1 set up through B&W speakers, the front speakers work ok, occasionally I will get music coming through the back but nothing else.Honestly, I want one setting that'll play what it should. ie if I'm listening to music I expect it to be stereo, if I have a movie on that's surround sound- I want it surround sound. As far as I can tell with "Sound Field" it seems to stretch stereo sounds to all speakers. Get a sound bar (just kidding) Do the 1080, 790 is good, but not as good. Reference Klipsch are good speakers, just get large ones for better sound. I like my surrounds to be large too for balance, and Atmos too. If the woofers are too small you just don't get as good of a sound. 8 inches is better than 6, 6 is better than 5, 5 is better than 4.

It has configurations for anything from just 2.0 fronts surround, 2.1,3.0,3.1 all the way up to 7.2 or 5.1.2 I`m currently running 5.1 Sounds pretty darn good. Bluetooth works seemlessly and on screen menu is awesome.

When I do direct connect from the Apple TV to the TV, I can get Dolby Vision at 4K 60hz.
